Exhibition Overview

Colors of Perception is a journey through the visible color spectrum based on the exploration of personal influences, experiences and thoughts. Abstract fields of color allow individuals to remove the ‘noises’ of life, relaxing the mind and body, and encouraging contemplation and awareness.

The visible color spectrum is everything, it is: scientific, perceptual, historical, philosophical, psychological, spiritual, and sociological, as well as a key driver of literature and human dialog. It is both extremely personal and broadly impactful upon society and our understanding of our life, our universe and our existence.

In life, many of our experiences are inundated and manipulated with ‘noise’ via imagery, sounds, light, and constant movement, from flat digital screens and computer generated works. We need to reinsert human connectivity and emotion. We need texture, brushstrokes, variations in pigments, imperfection and flaws to feel human connection. We need areas that allow individuals to view in silence, calm, and relaxing atmospheres to drive personal growth, introspection and reflection.

This exhibition is designed to immerse the viewer in a large, quiet, dark, open space with lighting directed at individual canvases, thus guiding viewers focus and striving for an emotional connection (~125 ft. to 175 ft. of wall space).

The primary works of ‘Colors of Perception’ are Sixty (60) acrylic paintings on 48" by 36" canvases. Depending on available space, the works should be displayed in a continuous unobstructed order, or alternatively, as Ten (10) ‘Sets of Six’ canvases (each 'Set' ~8.5 ft. by 10 ft.).
